Born in
Birmingham, England, I moved to the USA 4 years ago. After
spending 3 1/2 years living in Minnesota I now live in Southern
California.
My
passion for miniatures began when I was just a small child.
My
Grandfather was a master woodworker who made many toys for his
children &
grandchildren.
One of these was a most wonderful dollhouse he made for my Mother.
It had many rooms, was fully furnished & had a roof garden. Many of
my friends had dollhouses but none had a garden so this fascinated
me more than anything. A garden made it seem like a 'real'
house. As a little girl I played with it for hours,
never tiring of my miniature fantasy world.
My Grandparents regularly took me to visit the model village at
Bourton-On-The-Water in England.
One day they took me to see Titania’s Palace, an 18 room dollhouse
hand-built by Sir Neville Wilkinson over a period of 15 years. If I
wasn’t already fascinated with miniature buildings by then this
really sealed it for me.
I was captivated & I hoped
one day I would be able to own something as beautiful as this.
Almost 40 years later I can still vividly remember tiny details.
As I grew up real life took over and many years in a demanding
career in advertising & recruitment kept me too busy to do little
else other than work. Since moving to the US I have been very lucky
in that I have been able to step away from the corporate world &
start concentrating on making miniatures again.
Currently I make mainly 12th
scale flowers, plants & garden accessories but have many plans for
new things.
